Protists
What are protists?
Protista are amongst the oldest living organisms on our planet. They are classified under the Protista domain in the kingdom Eukaria. All eukaryotic organisms which are not classified as animals, plants, or fungi, are classified under protists. Protists can be unicellular or multicellular, but they will always be eukaryotic, meaning they have a membrane bound nucleus and more complex organelles. They can be plant-like, animal-like (protozoa) or fungi-like, like slime molds. Different protists reproduce, produce food and move differently. What they do have in common is that they all require a moist and wet habitat to live in. |
